What Can Be Customized in a Commissioned Artwork?

Commissioned Abstract Art: How It Works and What to Expect

A commissioned artwork is not about copying an existing piece. It is about creating a new work within a defined direction, adapted to your space, your needs and your taste—always within the artist’s own style and visual language.

Here are some of the main elements that can be defined in a custom project:

1. General Direction and Style Reference

You can indicate:

  • A previous KooK artwork you like as a reference
  • The general mood or type of composition you are looking for
  • The level of energy, movement or calmness

The new artwork will never be a copy, but it can follow a similar spirit, technique or visual intensity.

2. Color Direction

Color can be adapted in several ways:

  • Based on your interior palette
  • Based on specific colors you want to include
  • Using corporate or brand colors
  • Using restrained or very expressive palettes

This makes commissions ideal for both private interiors and professional or corporate spaces.

3. Level of Intensity and Material Presence

You can also define the general energy and density of the piece:

  • Very expressive, dynamic and layered
  • More restrained, minimal or calm
  • Heavy texture or smoother surface

This allows the artwork to match both bold architectural spaces and more subtle, refined interiors.

4. Size and Format

Custom artworks can be created in:

  • Any specific size you need
  • Very large formats
  • Panoramic formats
  • Multi-panel compositions (diptychs, triptychs or larger sets)

This is especially useful for architectural walls or unique spaces.

5. Unique Piece or Limited Series

You can choose between:

  • A one-of-a-kind unique artwork created exclusively for you
  • A limited series developed for a project or several spaces

If you choose a unique piece, the artwork will not be added to the limited edition collections such as the XXL Gallery, making it truly exclusive.

6. Timeline

The creation time depends on size, complexity, number of layers and drying time:

  • Small and medium formats: usually 7 to 10 days
  • Large or complex pieces: several weeks

Each artwork is built in layers and needs proper drying time between stages to ensure stability and quality.

Timelines are always discussed and agreed in advance.
